Delivery of Outreach Strategy Recommendations
The strategy, infographic, and research guide were delivered to an initial audience of stakeholders, including library directors and a co-chair of COSTEP MA. The analysis of their feedback supports the improvement of the process and materials. It also helps ensure the achievement of the outcomes.
Outcome Evaluation through Indicators and Objectives
In order to evaluate both the process and achievement of outcomes, the delivery reception was measured through interview questions to gauge satisfaction and perceived usefulness. As stated in the training strategy document, the following indicator and objective were used to assess satisfaction:
Results
All respondents were interested, enthusiastic, and supportive of the strategy and materials. They were satisfied by the training and the manner of delivery. They believe that the outreach activities will be useful and effective. These results meet the indicator goal and exceed the objective of 70% indicating satisfaction.
Here are a few excerpts from the evaluations:
“Thank you for all this work! It’s a very important topic that people…tend to ignore until it‘s too late.”
“This is excellent. Very well done. Both the design and lay-out as well as the content. It's attractive, easy to read, and non-threatening…which is important because this is a subject that can become very complex…This guide strikes a nice balance. It's attractive and well laid out, and there is just enough information provided but not too much—and then links directing them to more resources. Love it!”
“This guide is wonderful. I have no doubt it will be an asset to the community. Massachusetts has a lot of resources…sometimes maybe too many? The challenge isn’t getting help, it’s identifying who is the best to help. You’ve provided a helpful roadmap.”
The interviews and feedback also included many constructive comments that led to refinements of the materials and strategy.
The materials are being presented to additional audiences subsequent to more extensive distribution to the public libraries in Massachusetts.
